Story Sharing from our “University Star” Intern:
Intern: Felicia Chan
University: University of Melbourne
Assigned Company Partner: Impact Hub Hong Kong
It was a pleasure to work in Impact Hub Hong Kong. As a Taiwanese who studied in Australia, I have never thought that I can work in Hong Kong one day. Especially, I am a fresh graduate from a bachelor of marketing and management, and I have never worked practically. This work experience helps me to understand what the real job field looks like. Moreover, this is the industry that I have never been to get to know before - a social enterprise. This was a precious work experience for me to actually apply what I have learned from the lecture into the practical work field.
Stanley is a good boss and career mentor that often gives me guidance throughout the internship. What I have mainly done was designing the course materials that focus on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for the short course, which will be held in February. Also, Stanley introduced me to one of the social enterprise networking events from his business partner - Dream Impact Hong Kong, to let me be more familiar with how social enterprise can cover the various industries, which was really interesting. Though language barrier actually leads to the communication problem during the work (since I can only speak Mandarin and English), it was a challenge for me to get used to a new working environment and a chance for me to know how to blend in this different culture in such a short time. Overall, I would say I have learned a lot from these three weeks and it was nice to meet everyone in Hong Kong.
